The Youth Rescue Initiative sponsors Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour.
The Youth Rescue Initiative is proud to be a sponsor for the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. Through this sponsorship, YRI will be providing the opportunity for 5 youths to play in the tour, which consists of 8 golf tournaments throughout the year. The Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour has partnered with the First Tee of Great New Orleans to give 10 – 15 disadvantaged youths, who have an interest in playing golf, the chance to participate in a fully professional golf tournament with peers their age
The First Tee of Greater New Orleans (FTGNO) is a local chapter of the national organization, First Tee. First Tee is initiative of the World Golf Foundation, an organization comprised of all the allied associations including the USGA, the PGA Tour, and LPGA. The World Golf Foundation created a junior initiative that would offer affordable access to those individuals who might not have the opportunity to be exposed to golf.
The mission of the FTGNO is to impact the lives of young people by providing learning facilities and educational programs that promote character-development and life-enhancing values through the game of golf. The FTGNO will impact the lives of young people in New Orleans and surrounding area, by teaching life skills and the inherent positive values of golf in a fun, safe environment.
The FTGNO currently serves an average of 300 participants a year. These participants come from varying backgrounds, with the target population being any child between the ages of 7 and 18 with an interest in golf.
The FTGNO is excited to launch the Accelerated Training Program. The ATP will give New Orleans youth the opportunity to play in golf tournaments throughout the southeast region of the country. The primary event in which the youth will participate in is the Arrowhead Junior Golf Tour. By participating in this tour, the youth will have the opportunity to play on golf courses outside of New Orleans, as well as being able to experience various lifestyles and develop relationships outside their normal environment.
The ATP program begins February 12th, with the first official tournament being the “Youth Rescue Initiative Junior Golf Tournament” on February 27th, 28th at Lakewood County Club in New Orleans. The youth will participate in tournaments all throughout Louisiana, Mississippi, and Florida throughout the year.
