Kickoff - 7:30 pm

The Youth Rescue Initiative is a proud sponsor of the 2009 New Orleans Bowl. Through this sponsorship, the Youth Rescue Initiative will be providing tickets for 500 participants from the New Orleans Youth Football League to attend the 2009 New Orleans Bowl. The children will be representing five area parishes in the Greater New Orleans area. Before the game, the youth will participate in a non-violent conflict resolution seminar, presented by Playworks, a national nonprofit organization that supports learning by providing safe, healthy and inclusive play and physical activity to schools at recess and throughout the entire school day. The keynote speaker for the seminar will be a player for the New Orleans Saints, who will speak about life lessons and resolving everyday issues. The player will be announced at a later time.
The Playworks mission is to improve the health and well-being of children by increasing opportunities for physical activity and safe, meaningful play. Playworks launched in New Orleans, LA in the fall of 2008. The community, school administration, faculty, teachers and students have warmly welcomed and embraced Playworks' unique approach to play and physical activity. Playworks is the only nonprofit organization in the country to send trained, full-time coaches to low-income, urban schools, where they transform recess and play into a positive experience that helps kids and teachers get the most out of every learning opportunity throughout the school day. These coaches become part of the school community, working full-time to provide organized play and physical activity through the five components of the Playworks program. They organize games and activities during recess, provide individual class game times and run a leadership development program during school hours. They also run Playworks tutoring and physical activity programs and developmental sports leagues during after school hours.
The New Orleans Bowl is managed by the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation (GNOSF). The New Orleans Bowl is a post-season college football bowl game certified by the NCAA that has been played annually at the Louisiana Superdome in New Orleans, Louisiana since 2001. The game was sponsored by Wyndham Hotels & Resorts from 2002 to 2004 and was officially called the Wyndham New Orleans Bowl. It is presently known as the R&L Carriers New Orleans Bowl after its current sponsor. The first year featured North Texas from the Sun Belt playing Colorado State from the Mountain West. The game is now played between the conference champion of the Sun Belt and a team from Conference USA. The game will be broadcast on ESPN and ESPN radio.
In 1999, the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation created a membership program with a mission to expose the success of the Sports Foundation and to extend an opportunity to the community with affordable levels of support for companies that share our same vision. Now, 10 years later, it has become an invaluable networking opportunity. Many of our members are actively involved and are on committees responsible for coordinating the future sporting events in our great city of New Orleans. The benefits of being a member includes invitations to free monthly socials and networking events, opportunities to participate in our bi-annual golf tournaments free of charge, tickets and VIP Hospitality to the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl, and much more.
Memberships are also tax deductible, and are a great way to help support the Sports Foundation as well as our ongoing efforts to attract and manage sporting events. In the next four years, New Orleans is proud to host the NCAA Men's Basketball 1st and 2nd Rounds, the Bassmaster Classic, the NCAA Men's Basketball Regional, the SEC Basketball Championship, the Men's Final Four, Women's Final Four and the Super Bowl. We also have our annual Ironman Tournament and the R+L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. With opportunities like these, there is no better time to become a member then now.
